Story Notes:

My first real attempt at experimenting with a second person PoV like this, and out of a desire to give the more destructive stuff I usually do a break.

I tried to keep it gender neutral throughout but apologies if anything slipped through.

(Would "Monster" be an appropriate tag for a mermaid? Unsure, but might as well play it safe I guess.)

The next morning had come, and with it, you had taken off from shore far earlier than you typically would. Excitement reaching a fevered pitch, you couldn’t wait any longer. Rowing out to the same location from the other day it hadn’t hit you until now that perhaps you left a little too early, the sun hadn’t even begun to rise when you departed, and even now it was only barely peeking out over the horizon once you were in position.

Standing up you once again begin to scan over the ocean’s surface, trying to find any sign of Marilith. Mentally chastising yourself for not waiting a bit longer before heading out, you struggled to see much of anything in the dim early morning light. Only when your excited high was dampened somewhat did you also realize how cold it must have been, mitigated mostly by the amulet, but that wasn’t a good sign for how it probably was beneath the waves…

These thoughts are shoved aside, however, when you notice something moving beneath you. Circling back and forth as if it too was unsure of something… But it was certainly large, and definitely blue.

It was her. Maybe she was trying to confirm it was you as well? Maybe she hoped to surprise you again? Not that it would matter in just a moment.

Perking right back up again, you take a deep breath. Reaching to where the amulet sat snug against your collarbone you give it one last gentle squeeze for reassurance, planting a foot against the boat’s edge you throw yourself off into the water.

The moment you dive beneath the surface several things become apparent all within the span of a few seconds.

Firstly, the positives. You could, indeed, breathe underwater now, made somewhat awkward by feeling like you were breathing through a filter, but nonetheless it was working. You could also see, with the first thing greeting your eyes being a faintly shimmering bubble that surrounded you, barely noticeable, it must have been the enchantment’s radius Athas had made mention of. Speaking was equally possible if your surprised cry at the sudden shift in temperature was any indication.

That was where the positives stopped and where your brain began yelling a rapid fire series of negatives, threatening to send you into a panic attack. Your instincts screamed at you to get back into open air as soon as possible, and though you could see… it didn’t amount to much without a light source.

While you were tangling with all of this you heard someone call your name in surprise, followed shortly by a hand wrapping around you. A sudden upward lurch nearly made you disgorge the contents of your stomach right there and then, and in short order you found yourself back on the surface. A shocked gasp escapes you while your lungs readjust to breathing open air again.

The rest of you wasn’t faring much better, ears ringing and eyes glazed over, you could hardly see the blurry visage of Marilith in front of you. Nor could you make out whatever she was trying to say to you.

Slowly coming back to your senses, you could finally clearly see Marilith’s concerned face, a cross of panic and relief that she was there to seemingly prevent you from hurting yourself but her tone was still somewhat frantic.

“-What were you thinking?! Are you well?”

Drifting the two of you back to your boat she’s surprised when you hold your hand up to tell her to stop. You return her concern with a wide goofy smile, gleefully informing her that you never felt better before.

“I’m… glad,” She says slowly, looking at you incredulously, “But what could have possibly possessed you to do that? If I wasn’t here to save you then…” Voice drifting off, the mermaid sighed in an effort to push aside whatever morbid thoughts were in her mind.

A pang of guild stabs through your heart upon seeing her reaction, in your excited rush to surprise her you never did stop to think how it might appear to see a surface-dweller suddenly throw themselves into the ocean.

Deflating, you avert your eyes away from her, softly mumbling an apology for causing her distress. Noting that it wasn’t your intention.

Sighing, Marilith plants a quick kiss atop your head before bringing you face to face, “It’s… fine. But… Please tell me what has you so worked up this morning?”

Blushing furiously, you clear your throat before beginning to explain what you had just gotten your hands on. With your arms bound to your sides by her grasp you instead elect to puff your chest out in an effort to show her the amulet hanging around your neck.

Marilith’s eyes widen upon hearing you giddily explain how you could be with her in the ocean now.

Realizing her mouth was slightly ajar, she shook herself out of it before beginning to speak, unsteadily at first, “Then… you… you can stay with me…?”

You nod, correcting her in that you WANT to stay with her.

“And… this is why you were so adamant the other day…” She continued, beginning to understand why you hadn’t even entertained the thought of her living on land with you.

You nod again.

You cry out in surprise yet again as the rapidly familiar feeling of your body lurching forward greeted you once more. Only realizing what was happening once the giant buried you against her chest, both hands holding you tightly against her in an intense hug.

“That you would do all of this for me… I… I don’t know what to say,” Her voice was uneven, shifting in pitch from the overwhelming mix of emotions flowing through her. You try to speak, try to tell her your own feelings, but your voice is lost against her skin as the pressure behind you only increases the harder she embraces you.

Suddenly, gravity seemed to give out beneath you as Marilith fell backwards under the surface. Slower, this time, perhaps recalling what happened when you were so suddenly shunted from one position to the other.

Her hands released you, allowing you to drift upwards away from her, with the two of you now floating together beneath the surface it was now your turn to go slack-jawed at the visage before you.

Marilith’s blue eyes were already fairly intense above water with their soft glow that you could, and have, lose yourself in. But down here they were far brighter in intensity, standing before you like two blue beacons.

She doesn’t miss that you’re enraptured with what you see, slowly, she begins to circle around you. Twisting every which way, it wasn’t too dissimilar to what she had done before when you were in your boat… But back then she wasn’t able to circle over and below you…

The mermaid kept you in place with a series of wide playful motions using her fins and tail, the force just enough to push you back up to where you started before you sunk further.

It was an amazing sight, finally being able to see her fully and, relatively, clearly, the way her fins seemed to dance in the water. How her hair flowed wildly behind her in whichever way it pleased, and though she already dwarfed you in height before this was the first time you wholly grasped her full body.

Truthfully, it was also mildly terrifying, having a first-hand reminder that she was of a carnivorous nature. Yet something about it was equally thrilling, imagining how such a playful dance could be adjusted to dealing with a school of fish.

Halting when she was directly above you, Marilith slowly lowered herself down, reaching one hand around to catch you within her palm. She continued her downward descent until her face completely filled your vision. Its expression is nothing more than that of complete elation.

“I love you.”

Your face begins to shift to something that matches hers the moment the statement reaches your ears, opening your mouth to speak, she cuts you off by continuing.

“I’ve been wishing to properly say that for so long,” The Leviathan mutters happily, “I’m sure I already know the answer, but…” She brings herself even closer to you, the gap between the two of you now less than an arm’s length, “Will you stay with me, dear? Down here? I know it’s much to ask for but… please…”

There is no hesitation in your answer, reaching a hand up to caress what you could of her cheek you agree wholeheartedly. Returning her declaration of love with one of your own, the gap between you is entirely closed when Marilith nuzzles herself into you, which as before, you return to the best of your abilities.

“Thank you… Thank you,” Came her grateful reply in a series of happy murmurs.

You never would have figured that being underwater like this could be so serene, but in the here and now, in the silence beneath the waves, it felt like there was nothing to get between you two.

Though you wanted it to last forever it would seem Marilith had different plans for the two of you, her fingers closed around you in a loose cage, before she corrects her position to no longer be above you.

“So many places to show you… so many sights for you to see!” Bringing you down until you were chest-high with her you could see her tail flick happily side to side in a physical translation of her emotions, “Ah! I can’t decide,” The excitement within her was clear to see, and it wormed its way into you as well.

“Tell me, dear. What would you like to see? We have so much catching up to do now!”

You think on her question, blanking out slightly now that an entire other side of the world was open to you. But… Both of you likewise had all the time you desired now. Why rush it?

It also dawns on you that you truly had no real idea how the aquatic denizens of this world lived. Did Marilith have a permanent home…? Merfolk had their own societies, sure. But what of a Leviathan like her? Scratching the back of your head, you take your chances and sheepishly ask if you could see her home.

“Oh? Well, of course we can!” She chirps, a smug smile forming on her face as she looks down at you with half-lidded eyes, “I didn’t think you’d be so forward so quickly.”

Her teasing tone was enough to get you to avert your gaze again, insisting that you didn’t mean it like that and were instead asking from a place of genuine curiosity.

Giggling, she shakes her head, “You’re hopeless.”

Turning her body she begins to swim off deeper into the ocean, fingers closing in a bit more around you as you’re clutched tighter to her chest. Trying to shake the flustered feelings away you watch the ocean go past through the small gap between her fingers.

Though you couldn’t see much, you were able to catch glimpses of other sea life of various sizes and species in the brief moments they strayed near Marilith before darting away from her. It seemed naught was keen on remaining near the giant for very long.

The amulet seemed to be holding strong all this time as well, still tightly against you in spite of all the movement, it almost seemed unwilling to detach itself from your body. A failsafe, presumably. It likewise didn’t seem to struggle to handle the depths you found yourself rapidly descending.

…Which made you realize you have zero concept of time down here. The two of you had certainly been moving for what felt like some amount of time but without any real frame of reference you couldn’t pin it down.

“Ah, here we are.”

Her voice broke you out of your thoughts as she took you into what you can only presume was where she considered home. Your vision continued to swiftly deteriorate further as your surroundings darkened considerably, leading you to assume it must have been some large cave or something similar that she hid away in.

“It’s not much, but I do hope you find it comfortable,” Her hand opens up around you… leaving you standing in pitch blackness, with just enough of a sightline provided by your enchantment to make out the surrounding palm of her hand but nearly nothing beyond that.

Nothing besides her eyes beaming down at you.

Awkwardly, you quietly inform her of your problems.

“Oh.”

Her response was simple, sounding almost like the obvious just dawned on her. You add that you could probably return to the witch and see if there wasn’t anything to be done, to which she seems to nod at if the motion in her eyes were any indication.

“That seems wise,” Marilith agrees before her hand swiftly tightens around you, yelping as you’re quickly brought to her chest, “But I suppose that just means I’ll have to keep you close,” She purred, “We can’t be letting you get lost, now can we?”

You sputter out an agreement that it would be for the best. Not that you’d complain about the proximity anyway.

“I’m glad we agree.”

Keeping you pressed against her, Marilith slowly sinks down to the floor. Coming to rest on a bed of pressed down plantlife from what you’re able to gauge, but only for a brief moment as her other hand joined the first, locking you away from the outside world and safely kept against her.

At least, for a brief time. You ask what she was doing when you feel her pinch you between her fingers yet get no immediate reply. Instead, you’re left hanging limply in her grasp while you’re brought close to her face once more. Though this time above her instead of the other way around.

“This,” Was her eventual reply once you were close, her sultry tone not lost on you. Nor was the needy look in her eyes. Realizing what she intended to do, this time you were prepared for it as Marilith pushed you against her lips.

Still as one-sided as ever, you threw yourself into the kiss with everything you had. Spurred on by everything that had happened you tried to make it count even as most of your body, much like before, was all but buried against her.

With the pressure increasing on your back, it appeared Marilith was equally keen on intensifying what passion you two had. Your efforts all but lost in the process, reduced to being flattened against her soft lips as she did what she pleased with you. Your only retort being a pathetic squeak as the air was pushed from your body which only received a satisfied hum in response.

If what occurred the other day had you shocked, this time you were left utterly stunned. Pulled away in wide-eyed silence the Leviathan giggled merrily upon seeing the state of you before calming herself down with a satisfied sigh.

Her fingers then release you, knocking you out of your stupor as a sudden weightlessness overtakes you. Crying out, you sink downward before gently coming to a rest against something soft and bumpy.

Latching onto it in some attempt at finding security in the darkness you frantically try to ask what her intentions were when an airy moan cuts you off. Your eyes widen again when the surface beneath you begins to stiffen, pushing your hand upwards as it rises.

The realization you were dropped onto her nipple hits you like a bag of bricks.

You recoil back in surprise, threatening to topple off of her breast, when something makes contact against your back. Whatever sound you did produce is silenced as your face is pushed wholly into the nipple, eliciting another pleasured mumble from above.

Your frazzled mind is just about able to piece together what held you in place must have been her hand.

A small squeeze presses your body tighter against her teat for just a moment before it eases off you, Marlith’s grip on you was gentle, yet inexorable, the mermaid making an active effort to not push your limits.

Then the pressure builds again, her hand beginning to gyrate in a slow circle as you’re ground into the soft flesh below. An experience that wasn’t entirely unwanted, somewhere in the back of your mind you remember having dreams of a similar note many a night… Yet it was that same mind that pumped you full of adrenaline, shouting at you that something was very, very wrong.

The hold on you was firm but not so firm that you couldn’t move, and now with your body kept fully aware, you begin to squirm. Wriggling against your prison in some misguided hope that you might be able to slip your way out, but all you managed to accomplish was causing Marilith to squirm in pleasure beneath you.

Something that one part of your frantic mind registers as a good thing.

“Whatever you’re doing, dear… Keep it up,” Marilith’s airy voice encouraged you, “This is what you wanted, wasn’t it? I’ve seen how you stare all those times,” Her grip tightens even further, now pinning you in place entirely, the giant’s tone intersecting between smug superiority and a needy whine.

Her effort not to push your limits seemingly fading as her own desires took over.

Barely able to even writhe in place anymore, the building pressure began to hurt. Your bones creaked in ways you knew they shouldn’t while your mind screamed for escape, unable to speak without your voice getting lost in the plump surface, your body defaults to an instinctual last resort.

You bite down as hard as you can.

A giddy squeal from Marilith fills the air as her grip constricted hard around you, pushing you down against her with no self control, your vision goes white as pain wracks your entire body, bones threatening to break from forces they were never supposed to withstand, you’re just about ready to accept your fate when suddenly the pressure subsides all at once.

Groaning in pain you remained splayed out against her breast, the ringing in your ears blocking out the initial panicked reaction from Marilith before it finally cleared, your name ringing out in the cave.

“-I’m sorry! I didn’t mean to… to-!” Her distress was obvious, managing to reach you in spite of your current condition. On shaky hands you manage to hoist your head up, bracing yourself with one arm you use the other to tap against her a few times to indicate you’re conscious.

“Ah-! I’m sorry, I… I must have gotten carried away…” The mermaid’s eyes were wide and alert, scanning over your body for any obvious injuries. You notice her hand begin to close in on you when she halts herself, its fingers twitch in uncertainty before it’s pulled away.

Shakily you call out, truthfully, that you’re fine. Slowly moving the rest of your limbs you force yourself into a seated position, your bones ache and you knew you’d probably feel it in the morning but nothing was broken at least. Miraculously the amulet was fine too if a cursory grasp at it was an indication.

Looking at Marilith you can see the shame clear on her face, distraught at the thought of hurting you she was quiet while you got your bearings again.

Coughing, you speak up and tell her you’re fine, just aching.

“Oh thank goodness,” She releases a held breath, slowly reaching out for you again. She still seemed uncertain with herself, “May I…?”

You nod, adding she doesn’t need to ask.

Taking a soft hold on you again she pulls you back to her side, clutching you protectively against her you could make out a series of apologetic mutters coming from above. You’re silent for a few moments while you lose yourself in your own thoughts.

What had just transpired was as equally exhilarating as it was frightening, any rougher and you could have been looking at several broken bones if not worse. It stood as a stark reminder of the obvious imbalance between the two of you and of the casual ease a Leviathan like Marilith could hurt you.

On the other hand… It was just as much the sort of thing you were willing to accept with a relationship like this. Something you have had indecent thoughts about before, even.

Speaking up, you cut her off, insisting to her that it was fine. You weren’t injured in any way you wouldn’t be able to walk off and… That you didn’t entirely hate it.

Just maybe there should be boundaries next time.

She gasps, beginning to say something else until she stops herself. Eventually landing on a grim chuckle.

“Mmh… you’re hopeless…” She echoes, tone perking back up slightly, “Of course. I just don’t know what I’d do with myself if I hurt you…”

Releasing you back on her chest she sighs, closing her eyes for a moment, they reopen and lock back onto you, “You must be tired after that, yes?”

You affirm her question, leaning back down against her, the two of you seeming to have reached a silent agreement to move on.

As she continued to stare down at you it was now your turn to look back at her awkwardly when a certain thought crossed your mind.

“Yes, dear?”

You shift side to side while you try to think of how you wanted to word this. Roughness and pain aside… You still didn’t hate what happened. Had you any warning for Marilith’s intentions you may have even gone along with it.

Might as well be direct about it.

Clearing your throat, you quietly ask if maybe she could do it again.

Her eyes widened upon hearing you, muttering your name in baffled disbelief before losing herself in a series of melodic giggles.

“I admit, you have me quite stumped,” Marilith muses, taking a hold of you, “Are you bold? Or are we both just foolish?”

“I’ve wished so long for this… And that you’re here with me? Well, it still feels like a dream.”

She repositions you deftly using her fingers, slowly lowering you downwards until you feel your feet come into contact with her breasts. You’re pushed ever further into her cleavage, the twin orbs squeezing down around you until you’re buried halfway up your torso.

She halts there, pulling her hand back until it’s hovering around the portion of your body still visible, “Is this okay?”

You nod your head.

“Good,” With that, you feel a finger push against your head. Using the single digit to finish what she started until you’re completely lost within the confines of her breasts. The finger retreats, and you find yourself barely able to move once again as the weighty mounds push down around you from all sides.

It was remarkably warm, like being surrounded by layer after layer of heavy blankets, and while your breathing was somewhat hampered it was nothing like before. An overwhelming sense of calm instead fills you as you feel Marilith likewise relax beneath you, the mermaid’s body softening as whatever lingering tension was left faded away.

You realize you could hear the woman’s heartbeat from here, its rhythmic beating proving effective at lulling you into a half-asleep state. You happily mumble something but you’re unsure if she could even hear it, nor did you register what she did say as you finally drift off into a peaceful slumber. The day’s events finally catching up to you.

“Rest well,” Marilith says softly, leaning her own head back into a resting position, “I’ll see you soon…”
